Author
Ryushi Nagata永田 龍史
CEO, ULTRO Inc. / Shopify Partner
Ryushi has worked in digital advertising since 2010. He has moved between an ad agency, a vendor of on-site personalization software, a company running its own ecommerce brand, and a Shopify app developer, staying close to ecommerce the whole time. Over that career he has managed more than ¥4 billion in ad spend.
Today he looks after advertising, analytics, store builds and CRM as a single point of contact for each client. When those are split across separate teams they rarely fit together, so he runs them as one.
ULTRO NOTES covers only what he has learned by doing the work himself. The admin steps and the places where things went wrong are ones he has checked first-hand.

01
Sees advertising and analytics together with how Shopify actually works
If you only know the ad side, you do not know what to set up in Shopify to get clean tracking, or what data you can pull out of it. If you only know Shopify, you do not know how to feed the numbers back into targeting and budgets. Store builds and CRM work the same way: knowing what Shopify can and cannot do changes the setup, the analysis and the recommendations that follow.
-
02
Finds the parts of Shopify that go unused
Shopify can do a lot, but few stores use all of it. Numbers that a small settings change would reveal, and bottlenecks that a different integration would clear, are often left untouched.
-
03
Builds AI into day-to-day work, so the scope is wide and the work is fast and accurate
Tracking implementations, report automation and data processing are things he builds himself rather than handing off. He designed, built and instrumented this site on his own. He is not an engineer, but years spent alongside development teams mean he knows what to ask AI tools to build and how. Whenever a manual task keeps coming back, he turns it into a system.
Background, and what each role taught him
-
2010 — 2015
Ad agency | Affiliate and display advertising
Budget allocation, creative testing and campaign structure. This is where he learned the fundamentals of running ads.
-
2015 — 2018
On-site personalization software vendor | Launched and managed the operations team
Used analytics to find where visitors dropped off and fixed it with on-site messaging. His approach to analytics and conversion rate optimization took shape here, working alongside large ecommerce sites.
-
2018 — 2022
Affiliate advertising company | Business development, then head of an in-house ecommerce brand
Launched a cosmetics brand from scratch and, as the business owner, ran product planning and development, the brand's own store plus Amazon and Rakuten storefronts, customer acquisition and operations. This time he was the one selling, not the one advising.
-
2022 — 2023
Huckleberry Inc. | Ecommerce growth division
From inside a Shopify app developer, he learned how Shopify is built while supporting marketing for many merchants. This is where he built up his sense of which feature or app fixes which bottleneck.
-
2023 —
Went independent and founded ULTRO Inc. in February 2024
Runs advertising, analytics, store builds and CRM as a single point of contact, connecting work that never fit together when it was split across teams.
